The Fränkische Rohrwerke Gebr. Kirchner GmbH & Co. KG is a family company with headquarters in Königsberg in Bavaria . The company is divided into five business areas: Drainage Systems, Electrical Systems, Building Services, Automotive and Industry . The Fränkische Industrial Pipes company is a wholly owned subsidiary. 4,500 people are employed at the 22 production and sales locations worldwide, 1,800 of them in Germany. In the 2018/19 financial year, the family company generated sales of around 580 million euros. It is considered the world's first manufacturer of corrugated pipes .
Founded in 1906, the company has been owned by the Kirchner family since 1919 and is managed (as of 2019) by Otto Kirchner and his son Julius Kirchner.
history
In 1906 the company was renamed Fränkische Isolierrohr- und Metallwaren-Werke Gg. Schäfer & Cie. founded in Schweinfurt . Three years later, Otto Kirchner, grandfather of the current managing partner, joins as a partner. After a fire completely destroyed the insulation pipe factory, the company relocated to Königsberg in Franconia in 1912, where it still has its headquarters today.
In 1919 Otto Kirchner separates from his partners and the company becomes fully owned by the family. After the death of her husband Otto in 1946, Dr. Auguste Kirchner a fight for the family business. At Christmas 1948 she finally released it from an American trusteeship and took over management at the turn of the year. With her decision to use plastic , Auguste Kirchner is setting the course for the future: In the 1950s, the world's first flexible metal electrical installation pipe and the first continuously produced, flexible corrugated plastic pipe are manufactured in Königsberg . With the manufacture of the first corrugated, endlessly produced plastic drainage pipe, Fränkische changed drainage technology in 1961. Since 1977 the company has operated as "Fränkische Rohrwerke Gebr. Kirchner GmbH & Co. KG".
In 2006, 100 years after the company was founded, Otto Kirchner took over all the shares from his co-shareholders and ran the company as the sole shareholder . The internationalization of Fränkische begins under his leadership. In 2008, Fränkische Industrial Pipes GmbH & Co. KG became an independent subsidiary as a 100 percent subsidiary . In 2019 Julius Kirchner joins the management as managing partner and now runs the family business together with his father.

The Fränkische Industrial Pipes GmbH & Co. KG is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Franconian Rohrwerke Gebr. Kirchner GmbH & Co. KG and produced for the automotive industry and with the emphasis on corrugated and smooth tubes of plastic. In addition to extrusion, the range of services includes a wide variety of technologies such as blow molding production, assembly , surface coating, injection molding , knitting technology and thermoforming. Fränkische Industrial Pipes GmbH & Co. KG employs over 2,900 people worldwide with net sales of 226 million euros (2017/2018 financial year).

The company sees itself as a hidden champion in polymer processing because of its innovations such as the flexible metal electrical installation pipe, its further development made of plastic and the yellow drainage pipe. The family company specializes in the development and manufacture of pipes, manholes and system components made of plastic and metal and offers solutions for building construction , civil engineering , automotive and industry.
drainage
The Drainage Systems division focuses on traffic route drainage (streets, squares, tracks), urban water management, agricultural drainage, gardening, landscaping and sports facilities as well as building drainage, sewage disposal, rainwater management and buried cable protection .
Electrical systems
The Electrical Systems division offers smooth and corrugated pipes made of plastic or metal that protect audio, signal and data lines. The focus is on fire protection , functional integrity, halogen-free installation and UV protection. Franconian systems are used as cable protection in the ground, in machine and plant construction as well as in electrical installations in buildings.
House technic
The building services division supplies a wide variety of pipes and accessories for drinking water , heating and gas installations . The ventilation system from Fränkische offers everything to do with controlled living space ventilation .
Automotive
The automotive sector is a development partner for technically sophisticated corrugated pipes and fully assembled systems, protective hoses and media-carrying line systems for automobiles - such as splash water lines, battery cooling or tank ventilation.
Industry
The products of the Industry division are designed for the protection as well as for the bundling and organization of cables and wires. These are resistant to extreme loads such as heat, moisture and abrasion as well as other chemical and mechanical influences and are used, for example, in medical technology , telecommunications , sanitary technology , robotics and rail technology.
