The Englishwoman Sasha lives on the Île d'Yeu off France with her ten-month-old daughter Sioffra and her husband, who is often absent from work. One day - Sasha is alone in the house - Tatiana appears at Sasha's front door and asks her to be allowed to pitch her tent in the garden of the house. At first dismissive and reserved, Sasha finally allows her to do so and the two women begin to develop a relationship with each other. Sasha decides to go shopping and leaves Sioffra in Tatiana's care. When everything is in perfect order after her return, she finally asks Tatiana to move into the house, although she is irritated by Tatiana's strange behavior.
When Sasha's husband returns the following day, he finds an empty house. Sasha is tied up and dead in the tent in front of the house. Tatiana holds the screaming Sioffra on a ferry that leaves the island.
