François Guillemot de Villebois
François Guillemot de Villebois ( Russian Франц (Никита Петрович) Вильбоа , born January 15, 1674 in Guérande , France , † May 13, 1760 in Dorpat , Estonia , lord of Aya , Kurrista and Sarrakus, was a Franco-Baltic aristocrat and Russian vice-admirer .
Life and career
As the son of the pharmacist and surgeon Jean Guillemot, Sieur de Villebois (* 1640 in Vannes , France) and his wife Marguerite Alno, he served as an English naval officer after his training in 1696 . In 1697 he joined the Russian Tsar Peter the Great , who was on his " Great Embassy " from 1697 to 1698 . He took part in the naval operations of the Russian fleet in the Baltic Sea against the Swedes from 1716-1721 and was promoted to captain at the Peace of Nystad on October 22, 1722 . In 1722 he commanded the Caspian Flotilla against Persia . As rear admiral , he was Commander in Chief of Kronstadt . He then became a member of the Russian Admiralty and a Knight of the Alexander Nevsky Order . In 1747 he took his leave as Vice Admiral. François was a favorite of the tsar and, through his marriage to Elisabeth Glück, a lady-in-waiting of Catherine I , had a close relationship with the tsarist couple. He was a strong supporter of the coup d'état against Peter the Great by Catherine and received from her the goods Aya, Kurrista and Sarrakus as a gift. On January 27, 1715, François celebrated his own wedding in the home of the Tsar in Saint Petersburg . In 1747 he and his descendants became indigenous people in Livonia .
Family and offspring
François came from the French-Baltic noble family Guillemot de Villebois , which had its origins in Brittany . His father Jean Guillemot de Villebois (* 1640) settled in Livonia and entered the Russian service. Françoise married the lady Juschkow in her first marriage and in 1715 she married the lady-in-waiting of Tsarina Katharina I, Elisabeth Glück († 1757), daughter of Johann Ernst Glück , provost of Marienburg in Livonia, they had the following descendants:
1st marriage: Daniel Guillemot de Villebois (* 1711, † 1797), Lord of Aya, then Jarwajöggi, Russian major general and deputy of the Dörptschen knighthood ∞ Elisabeth Dorothea Müller, daughter of a pastor in Moscow . They had 16 children, Daniel is the founder of the "older line".
2nd marriage: Alexander Guillemot de Villebois (* 1716 in New Scotland near Danzig , † 1781 in Dorpat), Lord of Kurrista and Sarrakus, Russian general field master , member of the Russian Code Commission ∞ Anna Helene von Budberg (1738–1799), Alexander is the founder of the "Younger Line".
