Françoise Spira

Françoise Spira (* 7. December 1928 in Paris ; † 4. January 1965 in Neauphle-le-Château , Department Yvelines ) was a French film and theater actress .

Life

During the Second World War, Spira went with the family to the south of France, where she attended the Lyceum in different places . During this time she was already playing in theater performances, even after she returned to Paris in 1945. She was particularly popular for male roles because of her deep voice. After graduating from high school, she attended drama school in Paris.

The theater director Jean Vilar discovered Spira for his Théâtre National Populaire (TNP), which at that time was still based in Paris, where she was already playing during her training. Her successes included roles in Danton's Death or Mother Courage . Spira took on roles in feature films, including in a DEFA film on the recommendation of Gérard Philipe , and in television productions.

From 1962 Spira was director of the Parisian Théâtre de L'Athénée , where she herself directed.

In 1965 Spira committed suicide .

2010, Spira was from 8mm film footage, in 1960 during the filming of Last Year at Marienbad in Schleissheim Palace in Munich made by Volker Schlöndorff put together a three-quarter-hour remembrance film and annotated by him.
