Frank Oehler

Frank Oehler (born May 9, 1964 in Mussenhausen ) is a German cook and restaurateur . He was best known to the general public through the docu-soap Die Kochprofis - Use at the stove .

Life

Oehler comes from Central Swabia and began his cooking apprenticeship at the Adler Rummeltshausen restaurant at the age of 16, which he completed with distinction. He then cooked until the draft for military service in the restaurant Benz , Kempten (Allgäu) and in the Relais & Châteaux Hotel Alpenhof Murnau . After serving in the German Armed Forces, Oehler continued to develop his skills at the “ Guide Michelin Star” award-winning Seehotel Siber in Constance , until he joined Dieter Müller's team in the Michelin-starred restaurant Schweizer Stuben in Wertheim-Bettingen. After this time Oehler went to London, where he worked as deputy head chef at Anton Mosimann . After another three years as deputy head chef at the Teufelhof in Basel , he decided to set up his own business.

From 1995 to 2003, Oehler ran his Restaurant d'Rescht in a former train station in his home village of Hawangen , which was awarded a “Michelin Guide” star in 2000 and 17 points from Gault Millau . Oehler was rated as the climber of the year. After leaving the d'Rescht, in 2004 he went to the Grand Hotel Las Dunas Beach Resort & Spa in Marbella as kitchen director , a member of The Leading Hotels of the World , whose top restaurant was also awarded a Michelin star. However, due to the change of hotel operator, this activity only lasted four months. Oehler then worked again at Mosimann as head of the party service.

From 2005 Oehler was kitchen director at the Hotel-Restaurant Erbprinz in Ettlingen , which was awarded a “Guide Michelin” star and 16 points in Gault Millau in 2006. In 2007 the Michelin star was revoked. During Oehler's time at the Hotel Erbprinz, the movie Eden with Charlotte Roche , Josef Ostendorf and Devid Striesow was made , which describes the power and art of cooking and eating. All dishes from the film (cucina erotica) come from the hands of Frank Oehler. For two years, producer Michael Hoffman had visited him again and again and studied to make the film.

In 2008 he became self-employed again as a leaseholder when he took over the catering in Stuttgart's Hohenheim Palace . Three months after opening, the Speisemeisterei was awarded 15 points by Gault Millau and at the end of December was named “Restaurant of the Week” by the Varta Guide. For several years the restaurant has also been awarded a Michelin star; Chef de cuisine is Stefan Gschwendtner.

Since June 2009 Oehler can be seen in the docu-soap Die Kochprofis - Einsatz am Herd on RTL II and, together with Andreas Schweiger , Ole Plogstedt and Nils Egtermeyer, helps restaurateurs in need.

On May 4, 2018, it became known that the Speisemeisterei had to file for bankruptcy because, according to Oehler, an outstanding invoice of € 70,000 had not been paid. Oehler will turn to other projects.

Memberships

He is a former member of the Young Wilders' Association, an initiative of the chef Otto Koch . Other members are and were, among others, Juan Amador , Kolja Kleeberg , Frank Buchholz , Christian Loisl, Manfred Heissig, Stefan Marquard , Achim Schwekendieck, Steffen Sonnenwald, Holger Stromberg and Andreas Schweiger . Oehler belongs to the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and to Mansel.
