Franz Becker (politician, 1930)

Franz Becker (born March 5, 1930 in Neunkirchen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and legal scholar .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Neunkirchen in 1950, Becker studied German and French law at Saarland University . In 1953 he graduated as licencié en droit , in 1955 and 1961 he passed the two state law exams . In 1957 he received his doctorate with the text The general administrative procedure in theory and legislation . From 1961 to 1967 Becker worked as a research assistant at the Europa-Institut at Saarland University. From 1967 he taught as a professor for business law, public law and politics at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences , which since 1991 has been called the Saarland University of Technology and Economics . He was retired on April 1, 1995.

Becker is a Roman Catholic. He is married and has four kids.

Franz Becker has been a member of the CDU since 1959. From 1974 to 1977 he was chairman of the CDU district association Saarbrücken.

From 1974 to 1976 Becker was a city councilor in Saarbrücken. In 1975 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament, to which he belonged for three legislative periods until 1990. From 1975 to 1980 he was the parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group. Member of the Saarland state government was Becker from 1980 to 1984: In the second Cabinet of Werner Zeyer he held at that time the post of minister of justice. In addition, he was the representative of the Saarland at the federal government.

Honors

On January 7, 1991 Becker was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit.
