history

The Free Enterprise V was launched on January 31, 1970 under the hull number 755 in the ICH Holland shipyard in Schiedam , the delivery to Townsend Car Ferries (later known as Townsend Thoresen) took place in May 1970 May 1970 en route from Dover to Calais .

In the following years the Free Enterprise V was used on various routes. Among other things, she called at the ports of Portsmouth , Cherbourg , Zeebrugge and Le Havre . The ship last served the route from Dover to Boulogne-sur-Mer since June 1987 .

After Townsend Thoresen was taken over by P&O European Ferries , the Free Enterprise V was renamed Pride of Hythe in January 1988 and continued between Dover and Boulogne-sur-Mer until January 1993. The ship was then launched and advertised for sale.

In April 1993 the Cyprus- based shipping company Charterhall Shipping took over the ferry under the name Laburnum . From then on, the ship was chartered by various shipping companies on various routes off Italy , Slovenia and Albania. From July 2001 to November the Laburnum was used by Trans Europe Ferries for the service between Ostend and Ramsgate . The Morocco- based shipping company Comanav chartered the ship in January 2003 for the route between Genoa and Tangier . After the ferry was named Tadla in 2003 , it was used again by Comanav from June to October 2004, this time for the service between Naples and Nador . After a brief assignment for the Ferrimaroc shipping company between Almería and Nador in July 2006, the ship was launched in Genoa in August 2006.

After eight months of lay, the Tadla passed into the possession of Medglory Shipping, also based in Cyprus, in April 2007 and was named Veronica Line . From May 2007 the ship was in use for the Veronica Lines between Brindisi and Durrës . After open payment claims, the Veronica Line was arrested on February 18, 2011 in Vlora . The ship did not get under way again, but was instead scrapped in Albania in August 2012.
