Fridolin Heurich

Fridolin Heurich (born September 14, 1878 in Magdlos ; † February 12, 1960 in Karlsruhe ) was a German politician of the center and after 1945 the CDU .

Life and work

Heurich was a bricklayer by profession. At an early age he began to be active in Christian trade unions . In 1906 he was first trade union secretary of the Christian construction workers' association in Krefeld , then district manager for Alsace-Lorraine and, from 1914, for Upper Baden and southern Württemberg, based in Freiburg . In 1923 he became district manager in Karlsruhe and in 1924 state secretary for south-west Germany. During the Third Reich , Heurich was a representative and unskilled worker and was imprisoned in 1944.

politics

During the time of the Weimar Republic , Fridolin Heurich was a member of the Baden state parliament from 1919 to 1933 . From 1927 he was a Councilor of State and as such a member of the Baden governments Wittmann (1930 to 1931) and Schmitt (1931 to 1933). With the seizure of power by the National Socialists, he lost all offices. After the end of the Second World War he became mayor of Karlsruhe (1945 to 1953). He participated in the founding of the CDU regional association North Baden , the area of ​​which lay within the boundaries of the later administrative district of North Baden , and was regional chairman of the CDU North Baden from 1946 to 1951. He was a member of the Provisional People's Representation for Württemberg-Baden , the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden and the two regional parliaments of the State of Württemberg-Baden. The state parliament elected him to the first federal assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as federal president in 1949 .
