history
Friedersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1370. The inhabitants lived from weaving and glass making for many centuries . Until 1920 it belonged to the Principality or Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( sovereignty ), then to 1952 to the Arnstadt district , then to the Ilmenau district and since 1994 to the Ilm district . Another peculiarity of Friedersdorf is that the majority of the inhabitants voted for the KPD in the Reichstag elections between World War I and 1933 .
In 1994 Friedersdorf came to the Ilm district. From 1994 the community belonged to the administrative community Großbreitenbach . The administrative seat was in the city of Großbreitenbach . With the conversion of this into the rural community of Großbreitenbach, Friedersdorf became a district of this.
