Friedrich Arthur Köhler (born December 23, 1832 in Halberstadt ; † June 7, 1919 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Friedrich Arthur was a son of the prime lieutenant a. D. and City Councilor of Halberstadt Fritz Köhler († 1866) and his wife Luise, née Weißen († 1867).

Military career

After attending the cathedral grammar school in his hometown, Köhler joined the 3rd Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on October 1, 1849 and completed the United Artillery and Engineering School for further training from October 1852 to June 1855 . In the meantime he was promoted to extra-budgetary second lieutenant , he was appointed artillery officer in mid-October 1855 with a patent from October 20, 1853. After serving as an adjutant in the fortress department and the 1st department, he was transferred to Magdeburg Artillery Brigade No. 4 on October 1, 1860, while being promoted to Prime Lieutenant . On April 3, 1866 Köhler was commanded as adjutant of the 2nd Artillery Inspection and on May 9, 1866 transferred to the East Prussian Artillery Brigade No. 1 , leaving his position as captain . During the German War he was adjutant to the commander of the artillery of the 1st Army from June 3 to September 30, 1866 . In this capacity, Köhler took part in the battles at Münchengrätz and Königgrätz and received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords , on September 20, 1866 .

Subsequently, Köhler was from December 31, 1866 to March 9, 1872 also a member of the examination committee for extra-budget second lieutenants of the artillery and the engineering corps .

During the Franco-Prussian War from July 18, 1870 to June 14, 1871 he was again adjutant to the commander of the artillery of the 1st Army . After being wounded at Gravelotte , he took part in the battles at Amiens , the Hallue , at Saint-Quentin , the siege of Metz and the battle at the Bois de Vaux. Awarded the Iron Cross II. On the occasion of the festival of the order, Kaiser Wilhelm II honored him in January 1892 by awarding him the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class, with oak leaves and swords on the ring.

He died on June 7, 1919.

Köhler married Amalie Blumenthal on May 22, 1859 in Loburg. The marriage remained childless.
