Friedrich August Albrecht von Tschirschky (born October 17, 1734 in Mittel-Arnsdorf , Duchy of Schweidnitz , † January 13, 1799 in Wesel ) was a Prussian major general .

origin

Friedrich August Albrecht came from the von Tschirschky family , whose progenitor was Léonhard von Tschirschky ( Tschirsky ). He was the son of Ernst Friedrich Gottlob von Tschirschky (* October 13, 1708; † March 9, 1748), lord of (Groß-) Wilkau and Arnsdorf, and Luise Margarethe, née von Zedlitz from the Bankwitz family (* March 9, 1748) 1715 - March 1773 in Siegroth). His cousin was the Prussian major general Carl Wilhelm von Tschirschky .

Military career

Tschirschky began his military career in 1749 as a private corporal in the "von Lestwitz" infantry regiment of the Prussian army . In 1754 he was appointed ensign and took part in the Seven Years' War a . a. participated as adjutant to Duke Karl Eugen von Württemberg . After the end of the war, Tschirschky rose further within his regiment, becoming staff captain in 1766 and captain and company commander at the end of March 1768 . In August 1773 he became head of a grenadier company with which he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . In the coming years, in 1780 was promoted to Major , 1789 Lieutenant Colonel and finally in 1791 to Colonel . As such, Tschirschky was appointed commander of the Wesel Citadel on January 23, 1792 .

In 1792, famous prisoners, including the Marquis de la Fayette , were held in this strategically important citadel . In this position he repeatedly pushed for the removal of the French royalist emigrants. In the same year he was appointed Vice Inspector General of the Westphalian Infantry for General von Romberg going into the field . On May 22, 1795, Friedrich Wilhelm II awarded him the order Pour le Mérite for the good state of defense of the citadel and for his many years of service . After the death of the previous governor of Wesel, Lieutenant General Alexander Friedrich von Woldeck , Tschirschky was entrusted with the management of the business on October 22, 1795 and in this position was promoted to major general on January 16, 1796.

Tschirschky married Johanna Beate von Kessel from the Raake (Oels) house on April 24, 1770 in Breslau (* November 7, 1741; † April 5, 1794 in Wesel). The marriage produced four daughters:
