Friedrich August Heinrich Martitz (born May 27, 1787 in Berlin , † March 23, 1865 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the Prussian Second Lieutenant of the Riding Artillery Philipp Erdmann Martitz (1761-1802) and his wife Marie Elisabeth, née Koch (1766-1808).

Life

Martitz joined the field artillery corps of the Prussian Army as a gunner on May 11, 1801 and took part in the defense of Erfurt during the Fourth Coalition War. He then joined the army in East Prussia and, after the Peace of Tilsit , was promoted to secondary lieutenant at the end of May 1807. On February 21, 1809 he was transferred to the Brandenburg Artillery Brigade . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden and Kulm . In Leipzig he was wounded and with the Iron Cross awarded II. Class. He also fought at Haynau , Peterswaldau, Nollendorf and the siege of Erfurt . For his work in the Battle of Waterloo , Martitz received the Order of Saint Anne III in 1815 . Class and the Iron Cross 1st Class. On May 3, 1815 he was promoted to lieutenant prime minister.

On May 23, 1816, Martitz joined the 6th Artillery Brigade as captain and company commander and rose to major and department commander in mid-December 1825 . On June 5, 1841 Martitz was commissioned to lead the 1st Artillery Brigade and on January 13, 1842 he was appointed brigadier.
