Friedrich Christoph von Möllendorff
Friedrich Christoph von Möllendorff (born March 10, 1680 in Hohengöhren ; † May 15, 1747 ibid) was a Prussian lieutenant general and heir to Hohengöhren and Wudicke.
Life
origin
Friedrich Christoph was the son of the Prussian dike captain Johann Friedrich von Möllendorff (* June 12, 1650 - November 22, 1704), heir to Hohengöhren, Wudicke, Schönfeld and Bolleben, and his wife Bertha Sophia Auguste, née von Bismarck (* 6. December 1651 - † June 4, 1711). His brother Johann Adolf von Möllendorff (1690–1758) also embarked on a military career and became a Prussian lieutenant general.
Military career
Möllendorff was employed in 1701 in the "von Derfflinger" dragoon regiment of the Prussian army . With the regiment he took part in the campaign against France in 1702/13 and rose to be Rittmeister . As a major , Möllendorff took part in the campaign in Pomerania in 1715 , became a lieutenant colonel in 1717 and a colonel in 1725 . From June 24th, 1731, he commanded the regiment on horseback "Graf Truchsess" and was finally appointed chief of the "von Cosel" dragoon regiment by King Friedrich Wilhelm I on September 23rd, 1734 . On July 21, 1739, he was promoted to major general . In 1741 Möllendorff moved with his regiment to Silesia and fell ill there during the winter quarters. The king then released him from service with the assurance that his regiment would not be given elsewhere. On April 22, 1743 Möllendorf was promoted to lieutenant general with a patent from February 25, 1742.
Since January 18, 1745 he was a knight of the Black Eagle Order and the Order of St. John .
family
Möllendorff married Margarethe Elisabeth von Redern from the house of Langen (* 1692; † May 12, 1773) on September 21, 1723 . She was the daughter of the Brandenburg major Claus Dietrich von Redern († 1698) and his wife Maria Florentine von Hacke . Of the von Möllendorff's children, only the daughter Florentine Henriette Charlotte survived .
