Friedrich Heilingbrunner (born October 5, 1891 in Bamberg ; † August 17, 1977 in Edling ) was a German officer , most recently a general of the Luftwaffe anti-aircraft cartillery in World War II .

Life

Promotions

After graduating from the New School in Bamberg Heilingbrunner occurred on July 18, 1910 as a cadet in the 2nd Foot Artillery Regiment of the Bavarian Army and graduated from October 1911 to the end of September 1912, the Military Academy in Munich . With the promotion to lieutenant on October 28, 1912 Heilingbrunner was transferred to the 3rd field artillery regiment "Prince Leopold" . Here he was initially used as a battery officer .

When the First World War broke out , Heilingbrunner came to the front as a platoon leader . From October 1915 to May 1917 he also served as battery chief in the Ottoman army on the Gallipoli peninsula and in Macedonia . After the demobilization of his regiment at the end of March 1919, Heilingbrunner joined the Epp Freikorps on March 26, 1919 , where he remained until the end of September 1919.

Subsequently taken over into the provisional Reichswehr , he worked as a battery officer in the Reichswehr Artillery Regiment 21 until the end of September 1920. Heilingbrunner held the same position from October 1920 to the end of September 1923 with the 7th (Bavarian) Artillery Regiment , where he was appointed battery chief on October 1, 1923. After Heilingbrunner had acted as a teacher at the Jüterbog Artillery School from October 1927 to the end of March 1932 , he returned to the 7th (Bavarian) Artillery Regiment as a major on April 1, 1932 . On October 1, 1933, he was finally commander of the Fuerth driving department or, after its renaming, on April 1, 1935, the Fürth flak department. On this day Heilingbrunner also joined the Air Force.

On October 1, 1935, he was then appointed higher commander of the flak cartillery in Luftkreis V , whose post he held until the end of February 1938. After the dissolution of the agency, Heilingbrunner became the commanding general and commander in Luftgau XII in Wiesbaden on March 1, 1938 . On April 1, 1944, he was transferred to the Führerreserve at the Air Force High Command and discharged from military service on February 28, 1945.
