Friedrich Wagner-Poltrock

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Wagner , mostly Friedrich Wagner-Poltrock since 1912 at the latest , (born May 31, 1883 in Marienwerder , West Prussia; † February 4, 1961 in Essen ) was a German architect , construction officer , draftsman , graphic artist , photographer and poet .

Life

Wagner-Poltrock attended Marienwerder grammar school and passed the Abitur examination at Easter 1932. He studied in Berlin, Breslau, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. After employment in Stuttgart and Leipzig, he worked from 1914 to 1925 in the municipal building administration of the city of Chemnitz as a building officer. In 1925 he set up his own office in Chemnitz and in the following years became one of the most important modern Chemnitz architects. During the time of National Socialism , he got caught up in internal disputes about the so-called Kameradschaftsbund within the Sudeten German Party . As part of the Dresden trials, in which the National Socialist German Workers' Party settled accounts with this group, he was sentenced to imprisonment like many other men for an alleged violation of Section 175 . In 1952 he moved to the Rhineland. Wagner-Poltrock was a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and the Rotary Club of Chemnitz .

The addition of his family name to Wagner-Poltrock probably served to better distinguish it from other bearers of the name Wagner in the building administration.
