Friedrich Xaver Wiebe (born January 10, 1829 in Königsberg , † January 26, 1905 in Berlin-Nikolassee ) was a Prussian general of the artillery .

Wiebe comes from a family from which many clergy have emerged. Grandfather Nathanael Friedrich Wiebe was also a pastor. His parents were the Prussian lieutenant colonel of the artillery Friedrich Karl Wiebe (1793–1862) and his wife Johanna Charlotte, née Woysch (1808–1843). His brother Friedrich Karl became a Prussian major general .

Military career

Wiebe graduated from high school in Königsberg and after graduating on October 16, 1846, joined the 8th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner . For further training he was assigned to the United Artillery and Engineering School for three years from October 1847 , in the meantime advanced to an extra-budgetary second lieutenant and was named an artillery officer on October 29, 1850 with a patent from September 16, 1848. On January 1, 1853 he was appointed fireworks lieutenant and as such, Wiebe attended the General War School for three years from October 1, 1855 . During this time he was assigned to the 6th Uhlan Regiment and the Kaiser Franz Grenadier Regiment for training purposes . He was also promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 1, 1858 .

After a brief assignment to the Guards Pioneer Department , Wiebe became an assistant to the artillery testing commission on September 15, 1859, and in this capacity was a captain on October 1, 1860 . He joined the General Staff of the VII Army Corps on July 5, 1862 and was promoted to major in early May 1865 . In the run-up to the German War , Wiebe was assigned to the General Staff of the High Command of the Main Army on May 20, 1866 . In this position he took part in the battles near Hammelburg , Aschaffenburg , Tauberbischofsheim , Helmstadt and Roßbrunn and the bombardment of Würzburg . After the peace treaty he returned to the General Staff of the VII Army Corps on September 15, 1866 and received the Order of the Crown III five days later . Class with swords.

On February 16, 1867 Wiebe was transferred to the General Staff and from there from March 7 to October 5, 1867, he was assigned to the General Staff of the VII Army Corps. On March 22, 1868 promoted to lieutenant colonel, he was on October 4, 1869 department commander in the 1st Artillery Brigade . During the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , he became commander of the artillery in the staff of the army department of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg. He fought at Metz , Toul and Paris and was wounded in the battle at Soissons . He was also at Orleans , Beaugency and Le Mans and the skirmishes at Meung, Connere, Alencon and Bazoches-les-hautes. For this he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class on October 20, 1870 , and was promoted to colonel on January 18, 1871 , and transferred to army officers on May 20, 1871.

After the war he was appointed commander of the 2nd Pomeranian Foot Artillery Regiment No. 15 on June 27, 1871 . This was followed on June 9, 1874 as a commander of the 4th foot artillery brigade and on November 4, 1875 with a patent from October 28, 1875 promotion to major general. On November 27, 1879, Wiebe was appointed inspector of the 1st foot artillery inspection in Berlin and a lieutenant general . On the occasion of the festival in January 1883, he was awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle with Oak Leaves. On February 10, 1887, he was put up for disposition with the character of General of the Artillery and Boarding House . On May 9, 1889, he received the patent for his rank. He died on January 26, 1905 in Berlin-Nikolassee

Wiebe married Henriette Sineck (1833-1892), a daughter of Major Ludwig Theodor Sineck, on May 12, 1863 in Berlin. The couple had a daughter named Charlotte (* 1869).
