The Friedrichsbach is a right tributary of the Pöhlwasser near Schwarzenberg in the Saxon Ore Mountains .

course

The brook, which was already referred to as Friedelsbach in a wood order from 1560 , rises on the northern slope of the Fichtelberg . Here the stream flowing to the northwest has cut a deep valley into the gneiss , as does the Luchsbach, which runs almost parallel . With the bear's comb , a quartzitic hardling stands in his way, so that the outflow has been moved significantly to the left by around 500 m. In front of the Bärskamm, an approximately 2 km long, now unnamed stream flows to it from the right. In the Saxon mile sheets of 1790 the name Friedrichs-Kiel-Bach can be found with the Friedrich-Kiels-Waldhaus marked at the source , which no longer exists today. Behind the Bärskamm in the restaurant Ephraim House , he takes from the right mosquito Bach on. And just before it flows into the Pöhlwasser, the Wernitzbächel flows towards it from the right , which is part of the FFH area Pöhlwassertal with Wernitzbächel for almost the entire course .

particularities

The Friedrichsbach is one of the few rivers in Saxony that is used directly for drinking water . For this purpose, a drinking water protection area of 477.21 hectares was established. The water is treated by adding calcium hydroxide to improve the pH value and by UV radiation for disinfection .
