Friedrichsdorf is a district of the community Gnarrenburg in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

Friedrichsdorf is a street village on the western side along the Oste-Hamme Canal .

history

Foundation of the place and population figures

Friedrichsdorf was founded in 1784 by Jürgen Christian Findorff on the west side of the canal as part of the moor colonization . It is named after Frederick Augustus, Duke of York and Albany , who visited the region in the new moor colonies on the way from Lüneburg to Worpswede in 1782 .

In 1824 it is stated that the place had 18 fireplaces. On December 1, 1910, Friedrichsdorf had 247 inhabitants.

Incorporations

On January 29, 1929, Friedrichsdorf and Langenhausen were merged to form the new municipality of Langenhausen, which in turn was incorporated into Gnarrenburg on April 8, 1974 as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony .
