history
Historical
The first historical connections with Karlshöfen were established around 4,000 years ago. There was a north-south connection in today's local area, a so-called " Heerweg ", which led from the North Sea coast near Wremen to Zeven . Evidence for this is, for example, old wagon parts, one of which is one of the oldest surviving wagon wheels in Europe.
The actual name of Karlshöfen suggests its origin in the Saxon-Carolingian period. In the 12th or 13th century there was a Seeburg southwest of Karlshöfen, which lasted until the 15th century. Today they are indicated by a memorial plaque.
Incorporations
On April 8, 1974, Karlshöfen was incorporated into the community of Gnarrenburg as part of the regional reform .
