Glinstedt ( Glinst in Low German ) is a district of the Gnarrenburg community in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The district of Glinstedt is located about five kilometers southeast of the core town of Gnarrenburg. Glinstedt is surrounded by Sandbostel and Spreckens in the north, the village of Rhade in the east, Hepstedt in the south and Karlshöfen in the west. State road  122 runs from west to east and branches off to the north as K 148 to Augustendorf .

Local division

The district also consists of the Forstort-Anfang settlement, on whose territory an attempt was made to afforest the moor with pine trees, but this was abandoned.

history

First mention and naming

Glinstedt was first mentioned in the 13th century.

The name "Glinstedt" is derived from the word "Glyndesete", which literally means dwelling near a glind (pile or farm).

Incorporations

On April 8, 1974, Glinstedt was incorporated into the community of Gnarrenburg as part of the regional reform .
