Fritz Dinger
Friedrich "Fritz" August Dinger (born January 22, 1827 in Wald (today in Solingen ), † August 11, 1904 in Düsseldorf ) was a German painter and engraver of the Düsseldorf School .
Life
In 1849 Dinger came to the Düsseldorf Art Academy . His most important teacher there was Joseph von Keller . He attended his lessons from 1851 to 1856. As a pupil of Keller, he was involved in the production of devotional pictures inspired by the Nazarene on behalf of the Association for the Dissemination of Religious Images .
In 1856 Dinger left the art academy and opened his own studio in Düsseldorf. There he worked as a freelance artist until the outbreak of the Franco-German War . Dinger became known for his congenial implementation of paintings as copperplate engravings, many of them on behalf of the art association for the Rhineland and Westphalia . Artists whose pictures he engraved were Theodor Mintrop , Emanuel Leutze , Julius Schrader , August Siegert , Christian Eduard Böttcher , Ernst Bosch and Raffael .
Dinger married Maria, née Nohl (1830–1915). Her son, Otto Dinger , born in 1860 , also became a painter from the Düsseldorf School.
In spring 1878 Dinger went on a one-year study trip to Rome to study the ancient masters. There he became a member of the German Art Association . In the spring of 1879 he returned to Düsseldorf, where he died in 1904 at the age of 77.
