Fred Gertz

Fred Gertz (born April 16, 1934 in Berlin ; † August 9, 2009 near Lehnitz , Oranienburg ; actually Fritz Räbiger ) was a German hit writer and press spokesman for the Oberhavel district administration .

Life

Fred Gertz studied German at the Humboldt University in Berlin and then taught first as a German teacher, then as a research assistant at the HU. Later he went to the radio of the GDR , where he worked in the entertainment department as a lecturer and editor . As a hit writer, he had his first successes since the late 1950s; since 1973 he has been a freelance writer. He became known as a lyricist for hits and mood songs, among others for Holger Biege ( said a poet , wealth of the world , his own face ), Reinhard Lakomy ( the house where I live , I don't care , today I'm alone ) and Gerd Christian ( tell her too ). He also wrote the lyrics of When the Rain Falled and Blue Is the Night .

For his chanson from the drum (interpreted by Gerry Wolff ) he received the International Yvette Guilbert Prize in 1957. For Die Sprache der Liebe ist leis , interpreted by Frank Schöbel , he won the “Big Hit of the Year 1972” award. With the song So that there are no tears, written together with Ralf Petersen , Andreas Holm and Erika Janikowa won second place in the GDR hit competition in 1967 . Klaus-Dieter Henkler won the 1975 Grand Prix de Paris with the Lakomy-Gertz title When I saw you again today . Gertz also wrote the lyrics for Günter Reisch's film Nelken in Aspik (1976), to which Lakomy contributed the music. He also wrote the text of the district anthem Mein Oberhavelland .

Until he retired in 1999, Gertz was press spokesman for the Oberhavel district administration. He was also the editor of the book Between Berlin and Mecklenburg… das Oberhavelland (1994).

Fred Gertz, who was a passionate sailor and owned his own sailing boat , died on August 9, 2009 in a swimming accident in Lehnitzsee . He left behind his wife Anneliese, two children and three grandchildren.
