Ralf Petersen
Ralf Petersen (born April 2, 1938 in Rumburg , Czechoslovakia ; † June 7, 2018 in Berlin ; real name Horst Fliegel ) was a German composer , arranger , producer and author .
Life
Ralf Petersen was a hit composer. After studying at a university in East Berlin , which he completed in 1961 in the subjects of conducting and composition with the state examination, he went to radio in the GDR as a music editor and producer .
His first hit came in 1960. Since then, he has produced over 700 tracks, many of which were successful. One example is Bostella Blau ist die Nacht , produced in 1968 , of which well over 20 different recordings exist. Same goes for Because It's Your Birthday Today , a song with Robby Lind that became popular as a birthday song .
Ralf Petersen has given numerous performers an effective start. With his songs occupied Christian Schafrik (Always a red mouth) , Andreas Holm (This is the Bikini Shake) , Michael Hansen (Do not play with luck) , Frank Sinatra (A small castle in the white sand) , Roland Neudert (I would like to be home again) , Ruth Brandin (I love all that about you) , Brigitte Ahrens (The sun rose for me) , Klaus Sommer (thank you for the hours with you) and Monika Herz (Come on, Columbus, come) top places in the charts.
He wrote a large number of songs for foreign performers. The Croatian artists Ljupka Dimitrovska (When music is playing) , Ivica Šerfezi (You have my word) , Dani Marsan (But don't cry) and Miro Ungar (Come with me) should be mentioned here.
Ralf Petersen has received awards at many hit competitions. The title Regen in der Nacht , sung by Michael Hansen in 1968 , was produced by Udo Jürgens in the same year .
He composed over 150 instrumental titles, some of which were also successfully placed in North America.
Ralf Petersen also wrote children's music. This is how the cycle Die Spieldose was created as a supplement to piano lessons . It consists of 20 individual pieces that are intended to stimulate the musical imagination and represent a connection between classical and pop music .
Under his real name Horst Fliegel, he worked as a music journalist, for example for the Luisenstadt Educational Association and the Berlin Choir Association , of which he was vice-president from 1999 to 2013.
In 2007 he published a book of memories under the title Composer and Broadcaster .
Petersen died in June 2018 at the age of 80 and was buried on June 20, 2018 at the French Cemetery 1 at Chausseestrasse 127 in Berlin .
