Fritz von Randow

Fritz Hellmuth Walter Balthasar von Randow (* July 18, 1908 in Collin , Pyritz district in Western Pomerania ; † April 1, 1995 in Hamburg ) was a German attorney with a doctorate , professional officer and right-wing politician as well as co-founder, deputy chairman and later honorary chairman of the German People's Union ( DVU).

Fritz von Randow was the son of Georg Caspar von Randow (1872-1946) and Frieda Margarethe Editha Klara von Enckevort (1879-1946).

After school at the Pädagogium in Putbus (Rügen), Fritz von Randow studied law and in 1935 did his doctorate at the University of Erlangen with a thesis on the analogous application of § 463 sentence 2 BGB in the case of “fraudulent pretense” . However, he did not pursue his legal career any further, instead becoming an active officer. He participated in the Second World War from day one, was mainly on the Eastern Front and finally made it to major and regimental commander .

After the war, at the end of which he was in Italy, he returned to the civil service at the Hamburg district court . There he felt no longer comfortable because of his political views - he was very nationalist - and gave up the judge's career. After almost ten years as in-house counsel at the employers' association of the metal industry , he switched to the German Hotel and Restaurant Association in Cuxhaven. He later went into business for himself as a lawyer in Hamburg .

Von Randow worked all his life for the recovery of the German eastern territories . That is why he was one of the co-founders of the association of the right-wing extremist German People's Union in 1971 . V., from which the DVU party was only founded in 1987. From 1978 to 1989 he was 1st Deputy Chairman of Gerhard Freys and later Honorary Chairman . In 1993 he ran unsuccessfully for the DVU in the Hamburg state election , in which his party won 2.8% of the vote. He also fought against the incumbent politicians and published a very critical book about the then Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

Together with Ulf Kretschmann and Emil Schlee, Fritz von Randow was one of the leading figures in the “ Lützower Jäger traditional association of 1813”. He was also a member of the Bismarck Association founded in 1981 under the name “Association for the Protection of German Historical Consciousness” . V.

His body was buried on April 13, 1995 in his parents' family grave at the Glimker Friedhof in Enger .

Private

Fritz von Randow married on December 29, 1942 in Döberitz near Berlin Rose-Maria Hube (born June 28, 1920 Magdeburg; † November 4, 2014 Quickborn), the daughter of the future Colonel General Hans-Valentin Hube (1890-1944) and Annemarie Kossack. With her he had two children, Ingrid-Aster (* Döberitz October 20, 1943) and Ulrich Fritz Hans Georg (* Döberitz March 2, 1945). After his only brother-in-law, Lieutenant Hube, had died in 1944, von Randow took the name von Randow to continue the tribe of Colonel General Hube. Randow-Hube, which he no longer ran after the war. The marriage with Rose-Maria was divorced on January 9, 1959 in Hamburg. Nine years after his divorce, on May 3, 1968 in Hamburg, he married Ottilie-Luise Niels (* October 20, 1908, † March 28, 1978), daughter of the businessman Wilhelm Niels and Emma Ella Pasenau, who was managing director of the private medical clearing house in Hamburg. She was buried in Hamburg-Ohlsdorf on April 12, 1978. Then the former opera singer Helen Schneider from Bielefeld accompanied him almost until the end of his life, but she died of cancer like his second wife.
