Emil Schlee

Emil Schlee (born October 21, 1922 in Schwerin ; † February 26, 2009 in Schwentinental ) was a German politician ( CDU , REP ) and historian .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1940, Emil Schlee was a soldier in World War II from 1940 to 1944. As an officer he was deployed on the Eastern Front and wounded several times. From 1944 to 1949 he was a Soviet prisoner of war . In 1950 he began studying cultural sciences (geography, history, German studies, politics, sports) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and in 1952 passed the sports teacher examination. After the state examination in 1957, he became a research assistant. In 1960 he passed the assessor exam and then worked as a high school teacher in Frankfurt and Offenbach am Main in the school service. In 1963 he became a teacher and in 1965 a senior teacher. From 1961 to 1966 he studied education, history, sociology, anthropology and politics at the University of Mainz in addition to teaching .

In 1961 he became captain of the Bundeswehr reserve . As a reserve officer he was active in the command staff of the Bundeswehr for internal leadership in Koblenz. From 1963 to 1967 he was a member of the Advisory Board for Internal Leadership at the Federal Ministry of Defense .

In 1966 he became a lecturer and in 1967 professor at the University of Mainz. There he was deputy director and head of the sports historical and sociological department. In 1974 he accepted a teaching position at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

Schlee was involved in the associations of expellees for many years . He was Vice President of the Central German Federation . In the Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg had Schlee as second deputy national chairman (1972-1978), Chairman of the regional organization Schleswig-Holstein (1978-1981) and national chairman and spokesman (1981-1986). Together with Ulf Kretschmann and Fritz von Randow , he was one of the leading people in the “Traditional Association of Lützower Jäger of 1813”. Schlee was an honorary member of the Mecklenburg Landsmannschaft from 1986 until his death.

In 1967 Emil Schlee joined the CDU. From 1969 he was chairman of the state sports advisory board of the CDU Hessen, deputy federal chairman of the CDU federal sports committee and deputy district chairman of the district Hessen Süd of the CDU.

From 1969 to 1971 he was chairman of the municipal council of Ober-Roden . From 1972 to 1974 he was a member of the municipal council of Heubach (Odenwald) .

From December 1, 1970 to October 1, 1974 he sat for the CDU in the Hessian state parliament . From 1979 to 1985 he was Ministerialrat and State Commissioner for Expellees and Refugees in Schleswig-Holstein. In 1984 he resigned from the CDU and joined the civic group Patriots for Germany of the American Lyndon LaRouche . Together with Helga Zepp-LaRouche he founded the electoral alliance Patrioten für Deutschland (see civil rights movement Solidarity ). In 1987 he joined the Republicans and became chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein regional association. In 1989 he was elected to the European Parliament for the REP and belonged to the Technical Group of the European Right . He left the REP in 1992, but remained a member of the European Parliament until the end of the 1994 legislature.

Schlee wrote on April 1, 1992 to the then doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research Germar Rudolf , who had been commissioned by the defense of Major General Otto Ernst Remer to prepare an expert report as part of a legal dispute and the well-known Rudolf expert opinion ( see Holocaust denial ) wrote the following lines:

I read your study in peace! It gives hope to perceive that a representative of the younger generation will bravely set out on the way to get to the bottom of a world-wide controversial question without bias, with scientific thoroughness, recognizably great specialist knowledge and corresponding curiosity for researchers! The result is clear and unambiguous! True facts cannot be suppressed in the long run! I wish your work that it makes the breakthrough! "

In 1993 he was co-founder and 1st chairman of the small, conservative party Aufbruch 94 - German Free Voter Association .

Schlee published mainly on historical and political topics.

Awards

In May 1983 Schlee was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class, Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
