from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The qualification for the European Football Championship for women in 1987 took place from September 26, 1984 to October 12, 1986 . All registered national teams had to go through the qualification, because the host of the final tournament was only determined at short notice after the conclusion of the group of four qualified group winners.

Again 16 national teams took part in the qualification. Again, the teams were divided into four groups of four teams each, with the exception of the British teams without a geographical division. Within the groups, each team plays each other twice. The group winners qualify for the first ever final in Norway .

Iceland and Portugal did not participate this time, Spain and Hungary took part in the qualification for the first time.
