This article covers the German national team at the 1991 Women's World Cup in the People's Republic of China .

qualification

The German selection qualified for the World Cup via the 1991 European Championship. Separate qualifying matches for World Cups were not scheduled by UEFA until the 1999 Women's World Cup .

In the first half, the German team set the course for their first win in their first World Cup game. Silvia Neid put the German team in the lead after 17 minutes. A double strike from Heidi Mohr (32nd, 35th) brought the preliminary decision. In the second half, Gudrun Gottschlich (57th) made the final score. It was the German national team's first game against an African selection.
