Fuck You and Die is a technical death metal band from Schramberg in Baden-Württemberg, founded in 2010 .

history

The band Fuck You and Die was founded by the drummer Tobias Schuler , who also plays an active part in Der Weg einer Freiheit , in Schramberg, Baden-Württemberg. Other musicians are Guiliano Barbieri ( electric bass ), Sascha Rissling ( electric guitar ) - who both support Der Weg einer Freiheit at concerts - as well as Dominik Günter (electric guitar) and Roman Hilser ( vocals ). All musicians within the group, with the exception of Giuliano Barbieri, originally played guitar, but were "retrained" in the first few months of the band's existence.

In the founding year, the debut album Veni Vici was released , which was published independently and is only available as a download. A demo with three pieces followed in 2011. On April 19, 2013, the group had to cancel a concert in Sankt Georgen in the Black Forest because the band's city council banned the band from performing because of their name . In the run-up, there had been complaints from several parents and the Protestant church , which is why the city administration decided to ban the group from concerts.

“The youth center has a public mandate. Fuck You And Die as a band name - what kind of message is that? [...] What do the (war refugees) think when a band with such a name appears in the youth center? "

- Markus Esterle, head of the Sankt Georgen citizen services, on the ban

Most of the concert-goers expressed a lack of understanding of the ban. Instead, Der Weg einer Freiheit played as a substitute. In October 2013 the group played at Blastnight, one of the opening celebrations of the Euroblast Festival in Cologne . A song on the second album Elements of Instability was later dedicated to the pastor, who was ultimately decisive for the forced cancellation of the concert .

In July 2013 the group signed a record deal with the Stuttgart label Supreme Chaos Records . The band's second album was announced for the same year. Released a music video for Security Through Obscurity . On May 8, 2014 the band played abroad for the first time. The performance took place as part of the Tel Aviv Deathfest in Israel .

On August 28, 2014, the group's second studio album was released under the name Elements of Instability, but not via Supreme Chaos Records, but on Astat Entertainment, a small label that the group itself founded. Christoph Brandes, who has already worked with Necrophagist , Deadborn and Spheron , was involved in the production of the album . On September 26th, 2014 the group played a release concert in Villingen-Schwenningen , where Necrotted and the Cuban - Italian grindcore band Goblinclit also performed. This was followed by an appearance at the Euroblast Festival and a concert in Belgium as the opening act for Dying Fetus and Fallujah .

As of 2018, the band was inactive, but had not disbanded. Hilser and Barbieri are also active as Brandhorde and last released a single in April 2019.

style

Fuck You and Die play a mixture of Technical Death Metal and Grindcore with Black Metal influences. This is compared with Necrophagist , Manowar , Nile and Limbonic Art . Most of the group's pieces are barely a minute and a half long, which several critics don't like. Human Torch, for example, which can be found on the demo EP released in 2011, is eleven seconds long. Arne Kupetz from Legacy, on the other hand, is enthusiastic about the themes that the group's pieces take up. Although song titles such as “Blast mir eine” or “Satan has to come off the wrist” are not politically correct and the lyrics are exaggerated and “wonderfully” provocative, the group still takes the music seriously. In the last song on the album, the group turns against narrow-minded scene-thinking. According to the Ox-Fanzine , the group mixes extreme metal with "stupid, inhuman, anti-social statements".

Comparisons with Necrophagist were also made on the second album Elements of Instability . However, Jakob Ehmke, critic at Powermetal.de , also sees parallels to atheist . Singer Roman Hilser said in an interview that she was influenced by groups like The Faceless , Behemoth , Nile , The Reign of Kindo , Wintersun and Cannibal Corpse . The Black Metal-like riffs used come about because each musician within the group has another project, which can be assigned to Black Metal in terms of sound. Giuliano Barbieri, Tobias Schuler and Sascha Rissling play in Der Weg einer Freiheit , while singer Roman Hilser started the Brannthorde project and Giuliano supports him there musically.
