Today's Furthmühle is located in the Franconian Lake District , west of the Kleiner Brombachsee and southwest of the confluence of the eastern Altmühlüberleiters into the Kleiner Brombachsee. The first mention is from 1398, when Stephan and Hadmar von Absberg sold the "Fürtt Mül" and the "Fürtt Weyer" to the German order commander Ellingen .
