Gänsmühle is a district of the municipality of Mühlhausen in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

location

Gänsmühle is located about 500 m west of the Wiefelsbach under the Schlüpfelberg , east of Sulzbürg and north-west of the town hall. The closest village is the Mühlhausen district of Ellmannsdorf .

history

The "Historical Atlas of Bavaria" assumes a new building from the 19th century. This must have happened soon after the turn of the century, because the mill can already be found in the topographical atlas sheet for Neumarkt in 1836, and it is also mentioned in the register of the diocese of Eichstätt from the same year. If it was created in the Old Kingdom , because of its location it will have belonged to the Sulzbürg-Wolfsteiner Counts and their office in Sulzbürg; however, there is no evidence for this.

The mill was equipped with a grinder, as reported for 1836. It was driven by an "unnamed stream" that is fed from the Schlüpfelberger spring and flows into the Gänsmühlweiher. As usual, the miller was also an economist. So in 1875 he had two cattle in cattle.

In 1966 the mill building was torn down and replaced by a new building in which the milling operations continued. Agriculture is still practiced here. There are currently four house numbers assigned.

The mill can be reached from Mühlhausen on a community connecting road that branches off from Rocksdorfer Strasse and continues to Hofen .
