Górki Małe ( German Klein Gurek or Nieder Gurek ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the Brenna municipality in the Powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .

Górki Małe is located in the Silesian Foothills ( Pogórze Śląskie ), on the right-hand Vistula tributary, Brennica, about 20 km southwest of Bielsko-Biała and 50 km south of Katowice in the Teschen district.

The village has an area of ​​275 hectares .

Neighboring towns are Górki Wielkie in the north, Brenna in the south-east and the city of Ustroń in the south-west.

history

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The village of Górki ( Gorki ) already existed in the 13th century. A part of the village was divided off to be given away to a knight, it was later mentioned around 1305 as Gorkii villa wlodarii , today's Górki Wielkie . Although the sources were silent about the remaining princely part until 1566, when it was mentioned as [by] malych Gurek . In Polish the name Górki means [the] hillocks .

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Opole-Ratibor (Teschener Kastellanei ) during the period of Polish particularism . The duchy was divided in 1281 after the death of Wladislaus I von Opole . The village finally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen (1290) . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia and since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial , it formed a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and the judicial district of Skotschau from 1850 . In the years 1880–1910, the population decreased from 351 in 1880 to 329 in 1910, mostly Polish speakers (between 98.3% and 100%). In 1910 90.6% were Roman Catholic and 9.4% Protestant.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Górki Małe came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Górki Małe belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
