Gülseren Yıldırım

Gülseren , real name Gülseren Yıldırım (* 1973 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish-French singer and Turkish teacher.

Gülseren had lived in Paris since she was seven and studied at the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales .

She gained stage experience since 1997 through regular appearances as a singer on the stage of the Paris jazz club Les Trois Mailletz .

After Gülseren's “debut album” in 2001, Gülseren gained notoriety through appearing with the Shaman dance group as a representative of Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev , Ukraine in 2005 with the ethno-pop title Rimi rimi ley . The selection of the title by a jury - after two very successful Turkish ESC participations with Sertab Erener and Athena - caused severe criticism in Turkey. The station responsible for the ESC in Turkey, TRT, responded to the criticism by rearranging the title . The new arrangement was reminiscent of a Bollywood soundtrack and was much better received by the audience than the original version from the preliminary round. With 92 points, the title took 13th place out of 24 finalists.
