Günter Matzke-Hajek

Günter Matzke-Hajek (* 1958 in Bonn ) is a German natural scientist (biologist, botanist ) and non-fiction author . His main research interests are the taxonomy of vascular plants as well as vegetation and species protection ; its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Matzk. "

Life

Günter Matzke-Hajek studied biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. In 1992 he was at the University of Bonn with a thesis on The blackberries (Rubus fruticosus-Agg.) Of the Eifel and the Lower Rhine Basin - taxonomy, distribution and habitat bond for Doctor of Science (nat rer Dr...) PhD . From 1994 to 2000 he worked as a research assistant in research projects at the University of Vechta .

Matzke-Hajek researched the genus Rubus in Western Europe and Macaronesia and wrote relevant monographs and specialist articles for scientific journals. He published monographs on brook and river floodplains , water protection , virtual water and worked as a co-author and editor on the standard works Red List of Endangered Animals, Plants and Fungi in Germany and Animal Paradises on Earth . He made several initial descriptions and revisions in the genus Rubus . Since 2002 he has been writing regularly for the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation for Nature Conservation, Heritage and Culture .

As a local researcher , he recalled the pontoon bridge ("Beer Bridge"), which was laid across the Rhine in March 1945 between Bonn and Beuel , the towers in the south of Bonn, the crash of a Gloster meteor jet in Kessenich in June 1956 and the local flora and fauna. Günther Matzke-Hajek is a longstanding member of the Natural History Association of the Rhineland and Westphalia (NHV).
