The Suspicion is a German television film by Johannes Grieser from 2004. It is the 27th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

Chief Detective Verena Berthold is accused of having committed a hit-and-run after an accident. Everything speaks against her, so a preliminary investigation is initiated and she is suspended from duty. Since she doesn't accept it like that, she researches on her own with her colleague Otto Garber. You come across a murder case that Verena dealt with 15 years ago. The man who was hit with Verena's car was the main witness at the time. When Otto and Verena visit Siegfried Berends, who has been convicted of the murder, he continues to make it clear that he was wrongly convicted. However, he does not initially make a vengeful impression on the investigators.

On the other hand, there are abnormalities with Küpper, the security guard who was hit. Otto researches that he bought an expensive house a few months after testifying in court. And now Küpper is supposedly certain that he saw a woman at the wheel of the car that hit him. In order to “get a feel for him”, Georg Scholz has himself put in his room as a patient. With his questions and hints, he worries the man and shortly after a call that Küpper made, someone tries to kill him. Georg has the proof of connection and comes across the former building senator Irene Winter. The woman worked for her as a domestic help, for whose murder Siegfried Berends was held responsible. This is now found slain and more and more clues point to the winters. After Küppers also testified out of fear of another attack that it was not Berends but Klaus Winter, the son of the building senator, who ran out of the house where the woman was killed, the investigators force the pressure on the Winters. Küpper also admits to having received money from Irene Winter so that he would not incriminate her son, but the petty criminal Berends.

While trying to protect her son and, above all, himself from any accusations, Klaus Winter unexpectedly dies. Irene Winter had succeeded in persuading one of her son's teenage clients to kill Berends. Fearing the police, he took Irene Winter hostage and then shot her son as he stood protectively in front of her.

The accident with Verena's car was actually caused by Siegfried Berends. He was on a tour of revenge and wanted to “punish” anyone responsible for bringing him to prison for a murder he did not commit. He had already ambushed the winter, but they got ahead of him and had him removed without further ado. Nevertheless, with his action he had ensured that now after 15 years the real culprits were found for the act, whereby he had to lose his life.
