The Ganzenberg is 539  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Riesalb , the eastern foothills of the Swabian Alb . The mountain lies in the Niederaltheim district of the Hohenaltheim community in the Donau-Ries district .

In the west, the 555.2  m above sea level borders NHN high Hochhauser Berg to the Ganzenberg. At the eastern foot of the mountain is the Hohenaltheim district of Niederaltheim.

Most of the mountain is forested. On the southern slope there is a juniper heath with typical limestone grassland and dry grass flora, which is part of the Kartäusertal landscape protection area and is protected as a reserved landscape area . In addition to juniper , occurrences of white and spicy stonecrop , horseshoe and horn clover , spring cinquefoil , cypress spurge , spherical flowers and the common finial are documented. The occurrence of Austrian flax is a botanical rarity .

The heather , which has already been partially reforested, was created through centuries of migrant sheep farming , which is still used today for maintenance. In addition, the juniper heather was extensively cleared in 1975 and 2001. The Hohen- und Niederaltheim Association for Horticulture and Land Care also takes on the task of maintaining the heather.

Jura rock is exposed on the eastern slope .

The parcels of the mountain are privately owned, including the Prince of Wallerstein-Oettingen .

On the Ganzenberg in July 2000, a private probe user discovered Celtic embossing tools in the roots of a tree , which were apparently deliberately hidden there. Signs of a mint on the Ganzenberg could not be found.
