Gary Kagelmacher (born April 21, 1988 in Montevideo ; full name Gary Christofer Kagelmacher Pérez ) is a Uruguayan football player with German roots and nationality.

Career

Kagelmacher, whose father was also a player in Uruguayan professional football for a number of years, attended the German School in Montevideo . He started his career in his hometown with Danubio FC , for whom he played in the youth team in 2004. For the club he completed a total of four first division games and was part of the team that was victorious both in the Torneo Apertura 2006 and in the championship for the entire 2006/07 season.

In August 2007 he moved to Spain . There he hired Real Madrid Castilla , Real Madrid's second team . At the beginning only loaned for a year, it was agreed that after good performances in the second team, in the summer of 2008 Danubio FC would loan him for two more years.

In the 2008/09 season , Gary Kagelmacher made his debut in the first team's starting line-up on matchday 38 of the Primera División . Against CA Osasuna they lost 2: 1 (1: 1) and Kagelmacher was replaced in the 58th minute. Another league assignment for the first team did not follow.

In the summer of 2010, Kagelmacher was loaned out to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League club Germinal Beerschot for one year . He made his starting line-up debut on Matchday 2 against Cercle Brugge (0-0), where he was on the pitch for 60 minutes after being substituted on for the injured Philippe Clement in the 30th minute . After good performance in the starting XI, Germinal Beerschot signed him permanently in the summer and provided him with a contract until June 30, 2014; in addition, he was appointed team captain by coach Jacky Mathijssen .

In the winter break of 2011/12, the Kagelmacher , who was also courted by 1. FC Kaiserslautern, was signed by the French second division club AS Monaco for 1.5 million euros .

In the Monegasque he made 52 games in Ligue 2 and scored three goals. In the 2012/13 season he was a regular player with 35 starting eleven. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he was no longer used there.

On September 2, 2013 Kagelmacher moved to the end of the season on loan to Valenciennes FC . At his new club he made his debut on September 25, 2013 in the game against Paris Saint-Germain. In the 2013/14 season he made 30 league appearances (no goal) for Valenciennes. His club ended the season in 19th and penultimate place in the table. This resulted in relegation to Ligue 2.

For the 2014/15 season, Kagelmacher joined TSV 1860 Munich in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the second match day of the 2014/15 season , Kagelmacher received a fine from his club after clashing with teammate Gábor Király in a league game against RB Leipzig . He scored the first goals for the Munich Lions on March 8, 2015 in a 2-3 home defeat against SV Sandhausen , when he scored both goals for the hosts.

In total, he played 26 games (two goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga, two relegation games (no goal) and one DFB Cup game (no goal) for Munich in the 2014/15 season. In the 2015/16 season, he made 32 other second division appearances (one goal) and played three games in the DFB Cup.

For the 2016/17 season , Kagelmacher moved to Israel to Maccabi Haifa .

For the Israelis he played in 34 league games (one goal) and two games (no goal) in the Europa League in the 2016/17 season. In August 2017, the KV Kortrijk signed him . There he played 78 league games and scored two goals.

In mid-January 2020, Kagelmacher left Europe and returned to Uruguay. He signed a new contract with Peñarol Montevideo .

National team

Kagelmacher, who went through all of Uruguay's junior national teams, took part in the Uruguayan U-16 team, coached by Gustavo Ferrín and Ángel Castelnoble , at the 2004 U-16 South American Championship in Paraguay and finished fourth with the team. Kagelmacher was appointed to the U-17 team at the latest since October 2004 . He was a member of the squad trained by Gustavo Ferrín, who was vice-South American champion at the U-17 South American Championship in Venezuela in 2005 . He was also part of the Uruguayan squad at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup and played three games (no goal) for Celeste. As part of the U-20 South American Championship in Paraguay in 2007 , in which Uruguay finished third, he was used nine times and scored one goal. He also played four games (no goal) with Celeste as a member of the squad at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup . These mission statistics contradict the only eleven missions (one goal) given by Kagelmacher himself for the U-20 Uruguayans . He himself also has ten international matches played for the U-17s (no goal).
