The Gauliga Westmark 1941/42 was the first season of the Gauliga Westmark (officially: area class Westmark ) in football. It emerged from the Gauliga Südwest , which was divided in the second year of the war due to the great distances. In addition, the teams from the occupied Lorraine were assigned to the new sports area, in this season the FV Metz and TSG Saargemünd played in the top division. 1. FC Kaiserslautern won the championship with the young Fritz Walter , who on March 8, 1942 scored 13 goals in a 26-0 victory against weakened Pirmasensians; the FK Pirmasens then withdrew from the league. In the final round of the German championship , the FCK failed in the round of 16 at the later German champions Schalke 04. Mundenheimer SpVgg had to relegate , for the 1942/43 season advanced as the winner of the promotion rounds of SC Altenkessel and TSG Oppau .
