Geodesy and Geoinformatics

Geodesy and geoinformatics (also geodesy and geoinformation ) is a field of study established at many universities . It can include both bachelor 's , master ' s or diploma courses and was first implemented around 2005 at the Vienna University of Technology and the University of Stuttgart . At some German-speaking universities , partnerships with geography studies have also been established.

Interdisciplinary study

The training includes the basics of geodesy (including land registry and cartography ) as well as geoinformatics . Among other things, it deals with soil or spatial databases ( geographic information systems ), develops algorithms and interdisciplinary links and thereby connects various bio and geosciences with problem areas, e.g. B. of environmental protection , spatial planning , construction and the border cadastre . An encyclopedia of these related disciplines is also available.

As the intersection of applied computer science , geodesy and some technical disciplines, the course is partly interdisciplinary and offers good career opportunities in various directions. Its use for broad application is evident, for example, in digital cartography or the development of apps for tourism .
