Georg Bokelberg (born September 1, 1842 in Hanover ; † February 8, 1902 there ) was a German civil engineer , architect , city ​​planning officer and railway worker .

Life

Georg Bokelberg was born in Hanover as the son of the road construction councilor and later secret government councilor Heinrich Friedrich Eduard Bokelberg .

After attending the secondary school - the later Tellkampfschule - Georg Bokelberg studied civil engineering and architecture at the Polytechnic School in Hanover from 1859 to 1864 and was awarded the bronze medal at the end. In Hanover he became a member of the Corps Saxonia .

From 1864 Bokelberg initially worked in railway construction at the Göttingen construction department for the routes of the Hanover Southern Railway , later in Halberstadt for the Eastern and Southern Harz Railway, before working as a state construction inspector in Erfurt . From June 24, 1884 until his death, he was the successor of Rudolph Berg in the duties of the City Planning Council in Hanover, when he had full voting rights of the magistrate from October 25, 1890 .

He thoroughly reorganized the city's building administration and performed his duties primarily as the managing director. He took care of the new installation of the sewer network , founded an electricity company and expanded the waterworks . In addition to the construction of the market hall designed by Paul Rowald , the Kestner Museum and the Stöcken cemetery , he has started construction of the New Town Hall .

Bokelberg's tomb can be found in the Engesohde city cemetery .
