Georg Friedrich Christoph von Bardeleben

Georg Friedrich Christoph von Bardeleben (born February 21, 1734 in Ribbeck ; † May 5, 1801 in Insterburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 8th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

His parents were the Prussian major a. D. , last in the infantry regiment "von Glasenapp" , Melchior Mathias von Bardeleben (* April 18, 1692 - November 14, 1766) and his wife Luise Christiane, born von Wallwitz (* 1705; † March 19, 1780) from the house Dammendorf.

Military career

Bardeleben joined the cuirassier regiment "Margrave Friedrich" on December 1, 1752 as a standard junker and became a cornet on June 22, 1756 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Prague , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf (wounded), Kunersdorf (wounded), Liegnitz , Torgau and Freiberg . He also fought near Meissen and took part in the sieges of Prague , Breslau , Schweidnitz and Dresden . On January 28, 1758 he was appointed lieutenant , on December 30, 1761 as staff officer and on January 18, 1763 as captain and company commander.

After the war, Bardeleben became major on June 14, 1772 and as such took part in the Bavarian Succession War in Prince Heinrich's army in 1778/79 . On September 22, 1782 he became the commander of the cuirassier regiment "Prince of Württemberg". On May 23, 1783 he became lieutenant colonel and on May 22, 1785 colonel . When the regiment chief Ludwig von Württemberg was given leave of absence on July 27, 1789, Bardeleben was appointed leader of the regiment. In February 1790 he was able to resign from his post. On May 20, 1790 he became a brigadier in the army in Silesia and on August 11, 1790 he was promoted to major general, and on September 25, 1790 he became chief of the "von Brause" dragoon regiment. He took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . On January 1, 1796 he was promoted to lieutenant general with a patent from January 5, 1796.

He died on May 5th, 1801 in Insterburg and was buried on March 8th, 1801 in the vault of the Reformed Church.

Bardeleben married in 1767 in Brueggen Wilhelmine Albertine of Ketteler (* June 5, 1750, † 5 April 1808) out of the house Bruges. The couple had several children:
