Georg Friedrich von Kleist (born July 4, 1707 in Königsberg ; † 1765 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of infantry regiment No. 4 .

Life

origin

Georg Friedrich came from the old Pomeranian noble family von Kleist . He was a son of the Prussian colonel and commander of Pillau Christian Ewald von Kleist (* 1657; † January 3, 1707 in Brabant) and his wife Helene Margarethe, born von Kalnein from the Kilgis family († after 1740).

Military career

Kleist began his career on November 12, 1722 as a cadet . After that he stood on foot in the Glasenapp regiment (later No. 1) for almost 16 years , where he advanced to prime lieutenant and served as adjutant . In 1740 he took over a company in the Münchow regiment on foot (later No. 36), where he was promoted to major in 1745. In 1753 he was transferred to the Borcke regiment on foot (later No. 20). Here he advanced to lieutenant colonel in the same year and to colonel in 1757. In 1758 the king promoted him to major general and entrusted him with the regiment Rautter on foot (later No. 4), which took his name "von Kleist" for his service. From February 1759 Kleist was responsible for recruiting in Mecklenburg. On March 20, 1764, she married the Prussian major Friedrich Gottlieb von Kalckstein, who inherited East Prussian goods from her father-in-law . The second marriage was childless.
