Georg Hartwig

Georg Heinrich Hartwig (born April 29, 1840 in Hassel , † October 19, 1927 in Hanover ) was a German Lutheran theologian, general superintendent and abbot .

Life

Hartwig was a son of the pastor August Christian Friedrich Hartwig. After graduating from the Domgymnasium Verden , he studied Protestant theology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen from Easter 1858 . There he became active in the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . He was ordained on March 15, 1865 and initially employed as a parish collaborator in Hameln and Hildesheim. In 1871 he became pastor at the sanatorium and nursing home in Hildesheim , in 1882 pastor and superintendent in Sulingen , in 1887 first pastor at St. Jacobi and superintendent of Inspection II in Göttingen . From 1890 to 1903 he was first pastor at the town church in Celle and general superintendent of the general diocese of Lüneburg-Celle .

Loccum Monastery

From 1890 to 1901 Hartwig was a clergyman in the consistory in Hanover. In 1891 he became an extraordinary member of the state consistory, in 1899 an unskilled worker, in 1900 a councilor in a part-time position. From 1902 to 1927 he was abbot of the Loccum monastery , most recently with the title of senior consistorial councilor.
