Georg Klein (born August 22, 1991 in Leipzig ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Klein began his sporting career with his hometown club TSV Leipzig 76 as a swimmer before he came to volleyball. He later moved to the Bundesliga club VV Leipzig within the city . In 2007 the middle blocker went to the junior team of the VC Olympia Berlin . With the junior national team, he finished third in the 2009 Youth Olympic Games. At the 2010 European Championships in Belarus and the 2011 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro , the team finished sixth and tenth. In the summer of 2011, Klein followed his trainer Söhnke Hinz to evivo Düren . In September 2012 he made his first international appearance in the senior national team in the European Championship qualification in Ukraine in a 3-0 win over Sweden . In the 2015/16 season he played for the Belgian club Topvolley Antwerp . In 2016 he returned to the Bundesliga and played one season for record champions VfB Friedrichshafen . In 2017, Klein moved to the German champion Berlin Recycling Volleys . In the 2017/18 season he reached the quarter-finals of the DVV Cup with the BR Volleys and won the German championship . In the 2018/19 season he reached the cup semi-finals with the team and managed to defend the title in the Bundesliga .
