Georg Ludwig von Gilsa
Georg Ludwig von Gilsa (born December 12, 1730 in Bayreuth ; † October 6, 1792 in Driesen ) was the Prussian major general and chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 3 .
Life
His parents were the Brandenburg-Kulmbach colonel Georg Daniel von Gilsa (1693–1743) and his wife Margaretha Magdalena, née Schmidt von Altenstadt.
In 1745 Gilsa joined the cuirassier regiment "Prince of Prussia" as an Estandartenjunker . In the same year he fought as part of the Second Silesian War in Hohenfriedberg and in Thrush . He became a cornet on September 11, 1753 and a lieutenant on October 4, 1756 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Lobositz , Kolin , Breslau , Kay , Zorndorf and Kunersdorf . During that time he rose to the rank of staff cavalry officer on August 22, 1760 and to Rittmeister and company commander on May 22, 1764 .
After the war, Gilsa became major on October 2, 1768 and as such also took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On September 4, 1780 he became lieutenant colonel and on June 3, 1782 colonel. On October 2, 1782 he was appointed commander of the cuirassier regiment "von Dalwig" . On June 4, 1788 he was promoted to major general and appointed chief of the "von Thun" dragoon regiment . In 1790 the regiment was sent to Silesia.
Gilsa dimittied on June 4, 1792 with a pension of 1200 thalers . He died shortly afterwards on October 6, 1792 in Driesen.
