Georg Friedrich Armand Graf von der Betten (born October 5, 1836 in Braunschweig , † August 19, 1898 in Ringelheim ) was majorate lord of Ringelheim and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Von derdecke was the son of Adolphus Graf von derdecke and Louise von Wallmoden .

In 1864, Count von der cone was attaché to the Hanoverian embassy in Paris . Here he had the opportunity to deepen his painting skills.

He had been the party leader of the German-Hanoverian Party from 1890 and distinguished himself as a political opponent of Bismarck and the Prussian supremacy in the German Empire .

From 1890 until his death he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 7 ( Nienburg , Neustadt am Rübenberge , Fallingbostel ).

Count Georg was very interested in technical developments. So he designed a pedal boat early on. Later he gradually converted the old watermill of the Ringelheim an der Innerste monastery into a power station . The mill wheel was replaced by a direct current generator in 1886 . Count Georg wanted to supply several villages with electricity and began converting the monastery mill into a power station. He died a few months before commissioning. From 1898 many villages were supplied with electricity. In 1913 the power station was sold to the overland headquarters in Helmstedt . The power station, the former monastery mill, was then converted into today's residential building before 1930.

Count Georg was highly musical, painted large-format oil paintings and created wooden sculptures. His motifs were, in keeping with contemporary tastes, romantic landscapes and figures from the Greek heroic saga. In the St.Johannis-Kirche in Ringelheim he has preserved three large-format wall paintings depicting the crucifixion of Jesus and the Ascension. He also painted the church ceiling in 1883.
