Fountain of Justice (Bern)
The justice fountain in Bern is located in the city's Gerechtigkeitsgasse and is one of Bern's old town fountains from the 16th century.
history
The fountain figure is a statue of Justitia with blindfolded eyes (and diadem), who raises the sword with her right hand and carries the scales in her left hand (with an inclined balance beam). At her feet are a pope, emperor, sultan and mayor . In 1543 the octagonal limestone fountain was created by Hans Gieng .
The symbolic figure of justice has repeatedly been the victim of vandalism :
- The scales and sword disappeared in 1798 and were not replaced until October 1845
- In 1986 the whole statue was torn from its base by the Jurassic separatist group Béliers

The drinking water network of Energie Wasser Bern ewb supplies the well with drinking water , the quality of which is regularly checked.
