Gerhard Arnold

Gerhard Arnold (born December 4, 1927 in Waldgirmes ; † January 14, 1984 ) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Gerhard Arnold was born into a family of teachers. He attended high school in Wetzlar , was hired as an air force helper in 1943 and then did Reich labor service . After being drafted into the Wehrmacht , he took part in World War II as a soldier . Most recently, he got into France in captivity . From 1948 to 1952 he studied law and political science at the universities in Würzburg and Marburg . In 1954 he became a doctor of law doctorate and in 1956 he passed the second state examination.

Arnold embarked on a career as an administrative officer in the Kassel administrative district , where he worked from 1956 to 1966 as head of the school department and participated in the rural school reform.

He joined the SPD in 1955 and was a member of the district council of the Hofgeismar district . From July 1, 1966 to July 30, 1972, when the district was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Hesse , he served as district administrator . During his tenure, he was involved in the construction of sports facilities and schools, the expansion of the district road network and the promotion of tourism. He was also involved in the planning of the Sababurg zoo . In the Bundestag election in September 1969 , he ran for 58th place on the state list of the SPD Hesse , but was unable to move into the German Bundestag as a member of the Bundestag .

After losing his office in connection with the local reorganization, Arnold was now a member of the district council of the newly formed district of Kassel , to which he was first district member from December 19, 1974 to February 6, 1975 and from February 7, 1975 until he was passed on February 6, 1981 as district administrator. In addition, he took on the role of school and building department. During his term of office, the construction and expansion of 14 comprehensive schools, the upper secondary school and the district vocational school in Oberzwehren as well as numerous gymnasiums and large sports halls, as well as the expansion of the Hofgeismar district hospital and the further development of the Sababurg zoo.
