Gerhard Lehmann (engineer)

Gerhard Franz Johannes Lehmann (born October 25, 1907 in Stettin , Province of Pomerania , † June 27, 1986 in Hanover ) was a German engineer , university professor and textbook author .

Life

Lehmann passed his survey as a surveyor in 1929 and was the first Dipl.-Ing. of the study course " Surveying " at the Technical University of Hanover in 1931 the main diploma examination. Then he joined the Prussian land registry in the same year . In 1933 he took his second state examination . From 1934 to 1936 he was an assistant at the Technical University of Berlin , became cadastral director in 1935 and was a research assistant at the Geodetic Institute in Potsdam from 1936 to 1941 .

In 1936 he was in Berlin to Dr.-Ing. doctorate and in 1937 received a teaching position for geodesy at the TH Berlin. In 1939 Lehmann qualified as a Dr.-Ing. habil. and was appointed associate professor at the TH Berlin from 1942 to 1945.

In 1945 he was Councilor and Vermessungsrat in Hannover . In 1947 he got a teaching position for surveying at the Technical University of Hanover. A year later (1948) he was appointed to the Upper Government Council and Chief Surveyor in the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior .

In 1949 he was appointed full professor for photogrammetry and engineering measurements at the TH Hannover and on November 1st of that year he was appointed founding director of the institute for photogrammetry and engineering measurements there. As a geodesist and former cadastral officer in Lower Saxony, the use of photogrammetry in dealing with local post-war problems was of great importance to him. These were at the state survey in Lower Saxony, the land consolidation administration Lower Saxony and the city survey office Hanover . Lehmann now used photogrammetry at all three administrative offices.

From 1964 he was a full member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .

In 1971 Lehmann retired .

Works

Lehmann's publications since the early 1950s show his theoretical interest in the possible uses of photogrammetry. His last publication from 1972 concerned investigations "On the coordinate and route accuracy of photogrammetric model evaluations" .

Memberships

In 1950 he became a member of the German Geodetic Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and in 1953 President of the "Organization Europeenne d'Etudes Photogrammetriques Experimentales" (OEEPE).
