history

The association was founded in 1910. The first soccer team of FC Germania Dattenfeld attracted more attention when it was promoted to the regional league in 1999. In 2001, the regional league championship and the associated promotion to the Mittelrhein association , in which as a newcomer, the vice- Mastery won. The club, which in the following years also belonged to the top five clubs, won the championship in 2007 and was promoted to the Oberliga Nordrhein for the first time . There he finished 8th in the first season. Thus, Germania qualified for the newly created fifth-class NRW League for the 2008/09 season , in which it was able to place 10th in the midfield in the first season. In the same season, Germania Dattenfeld qualified for the DFB Cup for the first time in the club's history by winning the Middle Rhine Cup . In the first main round in 2009/10 , the Windecker met Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 . In the game played in the Cologne Rheinenergiestadion for capacity and safety reasons , the fifth division had no chance and lost 4-0.

In his second season in the NRW League, Germania just barely missed promotion to the regional league as third in the table . With a 2-0 victory over the seventh division VfL Alfter, who surprisingly advanced to the final, the club won the Middle Rhine Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup again. In the first main round of the competition, Germania competed against FC Bayern Munich and lost, again in the RheinEnergieStadion, also 4-0. A new attendance record - the game was seen by over 41,000 viewers - was set for first-round cup games amateurs against professionals.

In his third season in the NRW League, Germania managed to move up to the regional league as second in the table , although this was not completed for economic reasons. The club even waived its right to start in the NRW League and played in the sixth class association league in 2011/12. Fortuna Köln , which has now been promoted to the Regionalliga, and Westfalia Rhynern , which was allowed to remain in the NRW-Liga , benefited from the withdrawal to the Middle Rhine League . With a 3-1 final victory over the league rivals FC Wegberg-Beeck , the club won the Middle Rhine Cup and qualified again for the DFB Cup. This time too, the club was lucky and got another Bundesliga club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In the first main round of the competition Germania Windeck competed in the Höhenberg sports park in Cologne, the game ended with a 1: 3 defeat after extra time.

The rise of Germania Dattenfeld is closely linked to the chairman Heinz Georg Willmeroth and the main sponsor Franz-Josef Wernze, who outlined a future vision for the club in the early 1990s and led it from the district league C to the major league.

Venue

The club's venue is the Germania Sportpark in the Dattenfeld district of Übersetzig. A grandstand with a capacity of 320 spectators was built in 2009 for the sports field, which until then only had standing room. Since the 2010/11 season, security-related games have been switched to the larger stadium in Bonn's Sportpark Nord.

attention

After promotion to the league, the club hit the headlines in August 2007 because the goals in the sports park were too low. This was noticed by the goalkeeper of the SV Straelen away team on matchday three of the season. When measuring, it was found that the crossbar on the posts was only 2.30 meters instead of the 2.44 meters provided in the rules of the game; in the middle of the gate it was only 2.27 meters high. The association did not have an explanation for this. An appeal by SV Straelen against the game score (4-0 for Dattenfeld) was initially rejected in the first instance. In November, however, the association court of the WFLV decided that the game had to be rescheduled. Against this judgment, FC Germania Dattenfeld appealed to the DFB Federal Court. The Federal Court of the DFB thereupon held the appeal of FC Germania Dattenfeld on January 23, 2008 in a precedent case and overturned the judgment of the WFLV Association Court of November 5, 2007.
