Gersprenz is a district of the Reichelsheim community in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse .

Gersprenz is located in the Odenwald in the southern part in the valley of the eponymous Gersprenz . Bundesstrasse 38 / Bundesstrasse 47 runs through the village .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1012 with the place name Gaspenza . The place was later also called Gerspentze . It belonged to Reichenberg in the county of Erbach and in the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1822 to the district of Erbach . From October 10, 1887 to May 25, 1963, there were stops of the Reinheim-Reichelsheimer railway in the towns of Ober- and Unter-Gersprenz . On February 1, 1971, Gersprenz was incorporated into the municipality of Beerfurth in the course of the regional reform in Hesse , which on August 1, 1972 to the municipality of Reichelsheim i. Odw.
